Gimli News Flash, Number Twenty-One

Hello my friends.  While the dust is still settling on the ranch after yesterday’s annual Heirloom Tomato Tasting event, I wanted to give it a quick review.  We had 185 folks come out to visit the ranch, taste tomatoes, interact with vendors, listen to a garden talk, and say hello to all the critters walking around the grounds.  Everyone seemed to have a wonderful time.

Of course, the highlight of many first-time visitors was getting to meet yours truly.  Many were able to feed me carrots and take selfies with me.  It is no exaggeration to say that like so many before them, they left my paddock in awe of the equine wonder that they beheld for the very first time.  Such an experience is truly priceless!

Two young girls wrote me a quick note.  There was no question, just a simple statement: “Gimli, you are very pretty!”  These two youngsters have exquisite taste for humans so young.  They join the masses of humanity around the world who have come to the same conclusion.  Who am I to argue with them!

I spent part of Friday getting groomed for my public presentation.  I was properly bathed by one of my favorite handlers, and then I had Miss Mo braid my tail.  All of my years instructing and working with Miss Mo paid off on Saturday.  My tail has rarely looked better.  I plan to keep her around.

Well, it’s time for my afternoon nap.  I hope you all enjoyed your tomato tasting on Saturday.

Happy Trails,

Gimli     August 17, 2025
