Hello my friends, and welcome to another exciting episode of the Gimli Gazette, where I speak truth to power and watch as walls of tyranny come tumbling down as the result of my written words!
Today’s posting comes out of a series of four questions from a little girl in our current session. She forgot to bring them with her, so her mom texted them to Miss Mo so that I could respond. (For security reasons, I do not give out my personal cell phone number to the general public. That is why I maintain a team of minions around me to handle such administrative tasks. My time is much too valuable for it to be spent pouring over texts from around the world.)
Her first question is a good one. She asks, “What is your favorite color?” I have many (being an artist, it is necessary for me to be conversant with the full color palette). When I wake up in the morning and look in the mirror, the first color that I see is the radiant chestnut hue of my coat. Add a little flaxen for my mane and tail, and you have a winning color combination. I could spend hours just gazing at such perfection!
If I had to pick another color, I would go for a tasty green. Many a ranch volunteer who has walked me from my paddock to the arena has experienced my diverting from the path in order to munch on a tasty patch of bright green grass (or weeds, or trees, or anything edible!). Most of what I eat each day comes from this tasty color group.
The second question is unusual. She asks, “What is your favorite shape?” This is an easy one. Since horse cookies are usually round, my vote for the best shape would be a circle. Whenever I see a round wheel, a ball, or even the moon, I cannot help but think of a cookie. My mouth is watering right now just thinking about them!
The third question is interesting. She asks, “Do you like taking baths?” Until Mr. John builds me a new spa with a walk-in tub, I do not see any baths in my future. I do not object to a warm shower, if one is offered. My favorite time of cleaning is when the children paint me with creative designs, and then wash them off with a hose. Then it is off to the Round Pen where I enjoy a delightful roll on the ground.
Her final question is a fun one. She asks, “What is your favorite session activity?” I love giving the children rides around the arena; but as for a favorite activity, it would have to be playing with the giant soccer ball. Whether it is scoring a goal in a game or using it to knock over an evil castle to save the day (as I did at a recent Ranch Family Dinner), I am known to be quite the striker on the soccer field. The USA Olympic Team keeps calling to recruit me, but my ministry to the children at the ranch remains my first priority.
Well that’s all the questions that I’ve received this week. Keep sending them my way. I enjoy reading and answering each one!
Happy Trails,
